Elsie Ijorogu
Reed
Motivated by the desire to give back to the community,
Elsie Ijorogu-Reed sought to empower the indigenous women of Delta State and
support their needs and basic human rights, thus forming Delta Women. Elsie
took Delta Women into the blogosphere with the present Blogging endeavour.
Under Elsie's aegis, the entire Financial Inclusion team comes together from
different parts of the world. Besides the Financial Inclusion Project, Delta
Women has been involved in its Blogging project, Ezine Project and Podcasting online,
and in on-field campaigns pivoting around anti-sexual harassment drives, aside
of free eye-check up campaigns and cervical cancer awareness drives.
Kanika Jain
Kanika is from Nainital, India and lives in New York.
She did her Bachelors in Computer Engineering from NTU, Singapore and her
Masters in Financial Engineering with Carnegie Melon University. Kanika is a Finance
Professional with Citigroup. Kanika believes that every voice can make a
difference, and hopes to establish a private equity fund to make social impact.
Kanika is the brain behind the initiation of the Financial Inclusion Project. After
the idea germinated as a plausible project, Kanika co-headed the project. Besides
her involvement with this venture, Kanika is an active and regular contributor
to DeltaWomen’s Blog and Ezine and is a Core Member of Delta Women.
Kirthi Jayakumar
Kirthi is a lawyer from Chennai, India. Besides running her own International Law
Journal and Consultancy, and dabbling with practice in arbitration, Kirthi is a
Commissioning editor with e-IR, a writer with the Centre for African Affairs
and Global Peace, a researcher for
OperationOF and an Associate Researcher with Open Briefing. Kirthi has worked
with several UN Specialized Agencies, and is currently involved in research
with the UNDP, on Afghanistan and DRCongo. She also moonlights as a freelance
journalist. Kirthi co-headed the Financial Project. Besides this venture, Kirthi
manages DeltaWomen’s Blog, Newsletter and Podcasting project, and contributes
to the Ezine and is a Core Member of Delta Women.

Ann Faye Marie
Alcalde
Ann Faye Marie Alcalde is a graduating BA Sociology
student from the University of the Philippines, Los BaƱos. Originally a BS
Biology major, her desire to pursue law led her to shift to Sociology. Since
transferring to Sociology, she became more interested in doing research. With
the help of Sociology, she has authored and co-authored several research papers
in the said field. After graduating, she plans to work on a research-oriented
organization and pursue a Master’s degree in Sustainability, Development, and
Peace. She is from the Philippines; for this project, she is assigned to work
on the Central Asia region.
Caroline A
Mubaira
Caroline holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with
the Zimbabwe Open University and a Diploma in Health and Adult Education with
the University of Zimbabwe. A Registered General Nurse and Midwife with the
Health Professions Council of Zimbabwe, she has over fifteen years experience
in development work at local and regional level, with HIV, AIDS and Adolescent
Reproductive Health. Caroline handles training Health Centre committees in
Results Based Financing and Health literacy, besides assisting communities in Strategic
Planning and Management of health literacy. She mentors community development
facilitators; including capacity development of the communities; mapping
capacity gaps at health facilities.
Justus Chelangat
Justus
is from Uganda, but currently resides in Malawi. A social scientist and with
his Master’s in Public Health Leadership from Uganda Christian University, he founded
KAPNASO (Kapchorwa Network of AIDS) service organization in eastern Uganda, which
fights HIV/AIDS and genital mutilation- promote Women’s Health and Rights. He
is experienced in programming development projects, HIV/AIDS, Reproductive
Health and rights, Project planning, proposal writing, resource mobilization,
participatory needs identification, strategic planning, research, monitoring
and reporting. He volunteers with VSO international.
Lylin Aguas
Lylin Aguas is from the Philippines. Armed with an
educational background in Economics, Lylin works in Financial Services. Currently,
Lylin is the Vice President of the Regional Loans and
Credit Operations Division at Philippines National Bank,
Philippines. Lylin believes that Deltawomen gives her an opportunity not
only to express herself on issues that she find to be very socially relevant
but more importantly, provides the forum for her to be a voice to the millions
of voiceless who need to be heard.
Pricilla Nakyazze
Pricilla Nakyazze holds a Bachelor of social Science
with a concentration in gender and social administration from Makerere
University. Priccy, as she is known, is currently employed by PC Medics, a
computer firm, as an Administrator. Despite being involved in administrative
responsibilities, Priccy does not confine her interests to administrative work.
Her core research interests include the likes of gender issues, social work and
related matters, business, development and related issues.
Sara Hasan
Sara is currently pursuing her Masters in Conflict
Analysis and Peacebuilding from the Nelson Mandela Centre for Peace and
Conflict Resolution, Jamia Milia Islamia in New Delhi, India. With her
undergraduate degree in Journalism from the University of Delhi, Sara also
participated in the State Department program on New Media and Democracy. She
has interned in civil society organisations in India and in the United States.
She has worked with leading newsprints, government organisations and has also done
advocacy for a social movement called the ‘Safai Karmchari Andolan’.
Tania Sebastian
Tania is an Advocate enrolled based out of Delhi, with
a Post Graduate degree in Intellectual Property Rights. Presently, Tania is the
Legal Advisor for the Indian Social Institute, an NGO run by Jesuits in Delhi. Previously,
she has worked as a Law Researcher for the Delhi Judicial Academy. Tania has
nearly 3 years of extensive practice experience in Labour and related matters
before the Supreme Court of India, the High Court of Delhi and Labour Courts as
well as the Central Administrative Tribunals. Tania has several international and
national publications on several topics.
